Pobl Group and Lovell Partnership to Deliver Affordable Housing in Haverfordwest

Pobl Group, in collaboration with Lovell Partnership Limited and Pembrokeshire County Council, has commenced work on phase 1 of a landmark development in Haverfordwest, which marks a significant milestone in the region’s housing provision.

With the support of Welsh Government’s Social Housing Grant, Pobl Group and its partners will initially deliver 115 homes, creating a thriving community that reflects the spirit and aspirations of Haverfordwest.

Phase 1 of the development named Augustus Grange, will see the construction of 42 homes for social rent and 37 for shared ownership, along with 36 homes for sale by Lovell. Located just off St David’s Road, the development will offer a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom homes, catering to a range of needs within the community.

The decision to embark on this venture in Haverfordwest stems from the area’s appeal as a desirable place to live, coupled with the longstanding demand for affordable housing options. Strategically situated close to the town centre and its amenities, Augustus Grange promises to be an attractive proposition for prospective homeowners.

Cabinet Secretary for Housing, Local Government and Planning, Julie James, said:

“I am pleased to see that more than £8.6m is being provided through our Social Housing Grant to support the development, specifically in the creation of 42 homes for social rent.

“Increasing the number of affordable homes we have available is vital for our communities and we will continue our work to ensure more people are able to rent or buy affordably in their local communities.

“This development plays a key role in developing the area of Haverfordwest, which is an incredibly desirable place to live, and I look forward to seeing how it progresses.”

Adam Roberts, Head of Development (West) at Pobl, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating:

“We are proud to partner with Lovell to increase the supply of affordable homes in Pembrokeshire. Augustus Grange represents a significant step forward in our mission to create vibrant communities where people can thrive.”

Work on site began in May 2024, with Phase 1 expected to be completed by the end of 2026. The sales cabin and show home are expected to open in November 2024, offering prospective buyers a glimpse into the future of Augustus Grange.

Neil Barber, Executive Director – Property & Investment at Pobl Group, reiterated the importance of this development in addressing housing challenges in the region, saying:

“We are delighted to be working in Pembrokeshire in collaboration with Pembrokeshire County Council and Lovell Partnership, where we can make a difference to the housing supply and bring our experience of great placemaking and delivering mixed tenure sites of this scale.”

Augustus Grange is not only about providing homes; it is also testament to Pobl’s commitment to sustainability. The social rent homes will be equipped with air source heat pumps and solar panels, contributing to a greener future for residents.
