On 8th May, ‘It’s Your Pembrokeshire’ will be held at The Queens Hall, Narberth, to encourage conversations about topics which are relevant to the county’s residents and businesses.
This free event is organised by 4theRegion, an independent, not-for-profit organisation working to enhance South West Wales and the local economy through collaboration and by bringing people together.
A first-of-its kind event for the county, ‘It’s Your Pembrokeshire’ will be about co-creating positive change and encouraging discussions surrounding topics chosen by the community.
There will be eight ‘zones’ covering talking points that have been decided through consultation with local residents and organisations including Pembrokeshire College, Bluestone, PLANED, Haverhub, PAVS, Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum and others.
These talking points are: Transport, Food, Creative Economy, Nature & Environment, Jobs & Skills, Community Action, Buying Local and Youth Empowerment.
At ‘It’s Your Pembrokeshire’ people can share ideas, discover existing opportunities and explore initiatives going on around the county. Businesses and organisations can raise awareness of what they do and make cross-sector connections, and individuals and community members can find relevant projects of interest.
Zoe Antrobus, who founded 4theRegion in 2018 with Dawn Lyle, says: “We’re so excited to bring this free event to Pembrokeshire after the success of ‘It’s Your Swansea’, which has run since 2019 and has become an annual celebration of the people, businesses and organisations in the county of Swansea.
“We’ve worked with the people of Pembrokeshire to come up with topics that are relevant and important, which also tie into universal themes and things we all care about. We thank everyone for their input in this knowledge-share.”
Dawn Lyle, Co-Founder of 4theRegion, adds: “As a regional alliance, 4theRegion is all about strengthening communication and collaboration for the benefit of everyone. This event is an exciting opportunity for people from different walks of life to come together for discussion on a range of topics, and I am sure lots of positive connections and collaborations will come out of it.
“We want to welcome the many small businesses of Pembrokeshire to get involved, as well as anyone living in the county who wants to be part of positive change where they live.”
Gitti Coats, Director of Haverhub and contributor to the consultation, says: “This event is organised by a team who know the value of conversation and collaboration – first amongst ourselves, which will accelerate growth then augment regional links. I find this very exciting, and I hope Pembrokeshire organisations will participate fully.
“I’m privileged to hear many ideas expressed on a weekly basis while running a community hub in Haverfordwest. This event at the Queens Hall will be the perfect place to share those thoughts on a wider platform, and link ideas with people who can action them.”
There will be free refreshments including tea, coffee and a buffet sourced locally from the southwest Wales region. The event starts at 09:30 and runs until 15:30, with a lunch break. Everyone is welcome, RSVP at https://www.4theregion.org.uk/its-your-pembrokeshire-2024/
